How Can ADHD Be Treated?

Hello, I have symptoms of ADHD and was wondering if there was anything that could help. I have trouble focusing at work and even in social settings. I can never stay on one topic or focus on others speaking. I tend to procrastinate a lot and can never finish a task. I will start things but can never finish. Is there anything that can help? It s starting to negatively effect my job and I cannot perform as well as I should even though I want to.

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hello,

There are several medications that can help with the symptoms of ADHD. But first, the diagnosis must be made.

You may see your primary care physician.

If he/she does not have much experience managing patients with ADHD, then he/she can refer you to a clinical psychologist who will be able to administer a questionnaire to determine whether you have enough of the behaviours that are found with ADHD to make the diagnosis.

Should you have ADHD you can return to your PCP for a prescription for one of these medicines.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Arnold Zedd, Pediatrician
