How Can ADHD In A Child Be Treated?

hello, I have a 4yrs old son with ADHD,conduct disorder,and ADD. He is having problems in school and they are suggesting I put him on medication.Is 4yrs too early to be on meds?Also, I am wondering if he will be on medication forever once i start it?
