How Can C.difficile Infection Be Treated?

I have C. Difficile, for 10 months now (after being hospitalized for removing 3 schwannomas near my spinal column), and am on vancomycin with some bad side effects. I m 67 next month. I have bad IBS, and a former GI dr. that said I don t have ulcerative colitis, although I was previously diagnosed with it, refused 3 times to do anything about the uncontrollable diarrhea since last Oct.. I m worried about recurrence, and I hope I m able to get FMT surgery before the antibiotics or I give out. I do not trust Big Pharma or prescriptions, for good reason. I m being treated at Temple now. Due to my age, I know repeated recurrence is highly likely. Is there anything I can do to prevent the infection from entering my bloodstream? If this costs money, please do not answer. I have no money.

The first step in treating C. difficile is to stop taking the antibiotic that triggered the infection. Treatment consists in:

- Antibiotics like Metronidazole
- Probiotics
- Plenty of fluids

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
