How Can GERD And IBS Be Treated?

I m suffering from GERD. I have tried everything: PPI s Tums, elevated mattress head, Rantidine, Papain, Licorice Root, Slippery Elm and I am left with a bitter taste in my mouth. I am also in recovery supposedly from C-Diff, but suffer from what is called IBS C&D, too. I have been to 4 gastroenterologists recently with no relief. I have heard that trials are available of fecal transplants. I have had endoscopies and colonoscopies that were unremarkable.

Hi
Thanks for trusting healthcaremagic for your health problems.

Along with medications you have to keep restrictions on spicy and oily foods to help in reducing GERS symptoms. Otherwise PPIs are best to relive GERD symptoms. Have you ever been tested for H, Pylori infection in stomach? If not then do that.
For IBS, Medications like Amytriptillin and Behavioral therapy is required.
Make your eating schedule proper and train yourself for controlling bowel movements which occurs unnecessarily. Avoid unhygienic, spicy and oily foods. Avoid food having caustic soda, yeast preparation etc.
I hope this will help you.

Dr. Hiren
