How Can GERD Be Treated?

My wife is suffering from what appears to be GERD, or one of the other painful problems in that region. She gets EXTREME pain and burning in her chest, can t lay vertices, and at the height of these episodes nothing I ve tried seems to work. She s on Nexium and chewing tums. I m watching her diet and keeping her on line. She refuses to go to the ER because she s hosting a women s beauty seminar tomorrow and a lot of planning and prep has taken place. The episodes are worse at night and we haven t slept in 3 nights. Is there something I can do to get her through the next 24 hours when I take her to the ER? Respectfully, Neil

Hi,
Welcome to Healthcaremagic.com.

I had gone through your question I can understand your concern about heart burn and acid regurgitation.

As per the history of your wife,, she needs certain life style modification like;
1. Keep her head side bed raised at least 4-5 inches during sleeping.
2. Avoid late nights foods and alcohol as well as smoking it she takes any of it.
3.Avoid spicy, oily, junk foods. Pepper or even citrus fruits for some time.
4.Do an H. Pylori test done which is most important cause for gastric ulcer and heart burn.
5. She may need a 2-4 week course of Proton pump inhibitor medication like pantoprazole 40 mg daily.

If you go as per the above given management she will be healthy soon.
Hope the answer to your query, if you need any help write to us further we will be always there to help.
