How Can GERD Be Treated?

I was taking omeprazole for GERD . I was doing fine on it. I was told to go to Zantac or Pepcid by my pharmacy or doctor, I can t remember. I am back to GERD problems on Zantac. I do have some spots in my small intestine that are oozing blood and I am on the bottom edge of the test range just barely anemic. Is this why? The Zantac isn t helping my GERD? What to do?

hi sir/mam,zantac is less effective in comparison with omeprazole.i myself suffered a lot due to GERD during pregnancy.you can prefer omeprazole to zintac.the following are the measures to be taken to control GERD and to have a symptom free life:
1)avoid fasting for long and eating small amounts every small intervals(2-3hrs) is recommended.it would help preventing gastritis and also avoids weight gain.
2)never skip your breakfast.also avoid lying down atleast for 1hr after having food.you need to maintain an upright posture in order to prevent reflux.
3)avoid caeffine,alcohol,smoking.
4)if the symptoms are severe,OMEZ INSTA SACHETS are recommended.1 sachet emptied in a glass of water and taken.relief of belching and pain is immediate and lasts for 4-5hrs.
5)if omeprazole doesnt work, you can go for pantoprazole or rabeprazole which are more effective.but all these are to be taken atleast half an hour before food for maximum effect.
6)head elevation while sleeping prevents reflux.
7)overweight and obesity also increase acid reflux thus weight reduction helps a lot.
hope i,m clear and my answer helps you get rid of the symptoms.other doubts if any, kindly let me know.i'm always interested in guiding you.thank you.take care.bye.
