A girl I recently started seeing told me she had HSV2. She said that she has been on a suppressive medication since she found out, January 2014, and hasn t had an outbreak since. My question is, are there any other preventative measures i can take besides the obvious use of a condom? I ve been trying to wash myself immediately after but worry that I m hurting her feelings. Is washing off even doing anything? And, how likely is it for me to get infected if I m not using a condom and she has no visible symptoms?

If you are sexually active, you can do the following things to lower your chances of getting herpes:
Being in a long-term mutually monogamous relationship with a partner who has been tested and has negative STD test results; Using latex condoms the right way every time you have sex.
Herpes symptoms can occur in both male and female genital areas that are covered by a latex condom. However, outbreaks can also occur in areas that are not covered by a condom so condoms may not fully protect you from getting herpes take care.
