How Can I Get Rid Of Bump Near Nose Piercing?

hi there :) i had my nose pierced about two months ago and when i changed it to a hoop i noticed a small bump developing. i looked up online and people suggest i do the sea salt soak method to get rid of the bump, so i gave it a try. i'm pretty sure i used the right kind of sea salt but it turned out it irritated the skin around my piercing more, so i decided to take it off (i would have to take it off anyways because i'll be working in a few months and they don't allow face piercing.. but i found out i'd get the job after i got the piercing :/). the irritation wouldn't stop even after i stop doing sea salt soak! the small bump has gone tho but my skin around what used to be the piercing hole is getting red, itchy, and hardening and clear liquid would come out from time to time :( i'm thinking if it's bacterial or fungal infection. what can i do to get rid of it and what medications should i be taking? thank you in advance!

Hi,

I can understand your concern for the bump near nose piercing.

It appears form your query that you have developed secondary infection near nose region. This area is quite common to get infected very easily because of sweating and high bacterial proliferation. I suggest you to take oral antibiotic such as ciprofloxacin or cefadroxyl 500 mg two times a day for 5 days to prevent secondary infection. For time being period you can apply antibiotic cream such as fucidin or mupirocin and take pain killer tablets such diclofenac or paracetamol.
Do not try to even touch or pinch the area as can cause more aggravation of the problem and spread of the infection.

Take care.
