How Can I Prevent An Ingrown Toenail From Re Occuring?

So instead of having an ingrown toenail again and again more and more skin from the sides keeps growing over my nail. I tried soaking it in espom salts after I had a surgery to remove two extremely ingrown toenails that made it hard to walk but the skin keeps growing over the nails again and again what do I do? It’s growing in from the sides of the toe and it hurts a lot to be touched there

Hi,

You should not cut your nails too much. Make sure that little bit of nail extends beyond the skin after nail cutting. Also, cut the nail in a straight line. The nail spicule should not be hitting against the skin in the sides of nail.

You could also use dental floss in between nail and skin to prevent ingrowing toe nail. If you have redness, it could be a sign of infection and do consult your doctor immediately.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
