How Can I Safely Stop Using HH Lite Cream And Maintain My Skin Results?

Hi Doctor, I have been using HH lite cream for very long time without knowing it is steroid based, I have a very few side effects, now I was thinking to stop it completely. Please suggest the precautions to be taken and also a good substitute to maintain the results. Thank you

Hello,

You should not use steroid ointments for a prolonged period, as it causes thinning of the skin along with other side effects. Do not stop using it abruptly; you should slowly taper off of it. You can apply it every other night for 1-2 weeks. Then 2-3 times a week for another week or two. Then stop completely.

After you have stopped using it. Take care of your skin. Use a gentle, herbal repair moisturizer to help calm inflammation and repair the skin. Steroid withdrawal makes the skin sun-sensitive and prone to pigmentation. You are advised to use bio-derma photo-derm max creams that have SPF, for the day. At night you can use aloe vera gel (pure, no alcohol).
