How Can PCOD Be Treated?

Hi. I m planning for pregnancy since 1 year. And in scanning it is found that I m having pcod. My doctor told to use metformin1000mg for 30days; folic acid for 30 days.and on 2nd day of my period clomid50mg.and regestrone 5mg tablet from 15th day of my period for 12 days.please help me. will I conceive using these medicines.how many months I should use these tablets.I want to know help me!!!!!

Hi,

Your doctor is trying to reduce your weight, stimulate ovulation & support pregnancy with hormone progesterone (however I would suggest to take tablet Duphaston instead of Regestrone. You should test for ovulation by using LH surge test & have sex from the day test is positive for 5 days.

Go for pregnancy test if periods are delayed by 8 days. You should be under care of the treating doctor & continue for 6 months. If no pregnancy till then. Then you have to go for laproscopic surgery to drill out polycystic ovary.
