How Can Thyroxine Dosage Be Optimized?

I am putting on about 2 lbs per month and can feel that I am very tired and cold etc. Have been on Thyroxin for years but my doctor says my dosage is correct or even too high. I only want a dose where I will feel better and not gain/lose weight? Surely it should be a case of trial and error to get dosage just right?

Endocrinologist 's  Response
Hi dear user.
I have gone through your question.
I can understand your concern.

Weight gain is a sign of hypothyroidism.
My advice for you is to meet an endocrinologist because you need to do the thyroid tests (TSH, free T3,free T4) to know the actual thyroid function and accordingly the doctor can adjust the dosage of Levothyroxine.
Dont worry ,i am sure that after the right dose adjustment you will feel fine.

Hope i have answered to your question. If you have further questions i will be happy to help.
Wish you good health.
