How Can UTI And Rashes Around The Groin Area Be Treated?

I have been on antibiotics for about a week. I thought I was getting a UTI and went to the doctor who diagnosed me with a yeast infection. I took a fluconazole tablet on Monday; thought I was better. This morning I woke up with a terrible rash all around my private area, under my breasts, and even spreading to my back. Is this also a symptom of a yeast infection? It is very uncomfortable and itches!

Hello! Welcome to HealthcareMagic!

Thanks for the query. I understand your concern.

Fluconazole can cause severe skin rashes, which could prove to be hazardous. The yeast infection does not cause skin rashes like the one you described. Also there is a definite history of rashes following your drug intake. So it is more likely to be allergic. The severity you described demands immediate treatment:

1) Stop the Fluconazole intake.
2) Take a pill of Cetirizine over the counter.
3) Please consult your family physician at the earliest.

Take care
