How Can A Bartholin S Cyst Be Treated?

Hi. I have recently found a lump on my labia. After research I am almost sure it is a Bartholin cyst. I have had it for 3 days now, and it does not hurt, it just feels weird knowing it is there. The area is a little swollen. Today I started my period, and want to know if the cyst will get better or worse during it. Please help.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello, my name is Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi.
I understand your concern.
Some advices that I can give to you are:
-Practice sitz baths. Soaking in a tub filled with a few inches of warm water (sitz bath) several times a day for three or four days may help a small, infected cyst to rupture and drain on its own.
-Take antibiotics for 7- 14 days
-Of it doesn't get better and surgical drainage is needed.
Hope it helps.
Kind regards!
