How Can A Bruised Lump On The Arm Be Treated?

I have a lump on my arm which is bruised. Noticed it this am. Don t remember hitting it in any way. With that being said, I could have. I put ice on it a couple of times, but now it is getting red on top. No fever in it. I am on Brilinta, which is a blood thinner. What should I do?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I have gone through your medical history carefully and understood your concern. Please find my advice following:

Brilinta is a blood thinner that will increase chances for bleeding even in cases of light hit. I advise to apply cold compresses for today. Tomorrow start applying alternating warm and cold compresses.

The color will change from red to purple and yellowish purple. This means blood is being dissolved.

If no improvement for the next couple of days, then, should see your physician.

For now, follow my advice: apply cold compresses for today. Keep your arm raised. Tomorrow start applying alternating cold and warm compresses. Most important is to keep calm. Do not stop your blood thinner.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other concern.
