How Can A Chemical Burn On The Scalp Be Treated?

I had a chemical burn to my scalp from a relaxer and perm color.. I went to the ER and the prescribed methylprednisolone to stop the swelling... I have finished the steroid, but my scalp is still reacting while trying to heal, if that makes since... Can you tell me if I should be using a medicated shampoo? I am currently using a free and clear shampoo... I just really want to help my scalp and forehead to heal... Thank you

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

If the methylprednisolone helped with the symptoms you can continue it while the wound is still healing.
If the wound is taking more then 2 weeks to heal, you will need to see your doctor again and have it checked to rule out any problems with infection in the wound that would not allow it to heal quick.

I hope I have answered to your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Kind regards,

Antoneta Zotaj
