How Can A Dark Patch On The Underarm Be Treated?

I have just started using a natural deodorant for three weeks. I just noticed a foul fishy smell and a really dark patch of skin under one of my armpits. It has begun to yellow my shirts. I shower and the smell doesn t completely go away. Do you think it is built up toxins from my old deodorant? I did not realize that I should have detoxed before transitioning to natural deodorant. Also, I Have Type 2 Diabetes. Could this be some sort of infection? Should I see a doctor?

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hello,

As per your case history of dark patch underarm, my treatment advice is -
1. Maintain good hygiene and bath twice daily.
2. Apply a mild antibiotic cream like fusiderm cream twice daily on it.
3. Take an antihistamine medication like levocetrizine twice daily for 7-10 days.
4. Other treatment options are oral antibiotics, oral fluconazole taken only after consulting a dermatologist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Harshit Bhachech
