How can I get a permanent deep voice? I am asking this because I am tired of being laughed at by my own family after I get done saying something. It is actually pretty depressing not having a deep voice, so please tell me how I can make my voice deep permanently. It would be greatly appreciated.
Hi. You can achieve a deep voice by undergoing a surgery called as thyroplasty.
This surgery can be performed by any skilled ENT specialist and it involves relaxing or shortening the vocal cords by approaching through the thyroid cartilage in the neck. This is a short surgical procedure lasting about 30 to 45 minutes and is performed under local anesthesia. Our vocal cords work similar to strings on a guitar. By loosening the tension within the cord we can create a deep voice. If we were to tighten or increase the tension then it would lead to a high pitched voice.
There are some less invasive options too, which involve injecting fat or hyaluronic acid into the vocal cords. You may need to explore these options further with your ENT specialists. In certain forms of speech therapy you may be able to learn the technique to deepen your voice as well.
Hope this information helps you. Do let me know if you have any further questions.
