How Can A Diaper Rash Be Treated?

Hi doctors, my son is 1.2 years and he has diarrhea and diaper rash for over 10 days now! We have been using different creams and medicines to cure the rash (which is caused by diarrhea) but nothing is working, we used Mebo, then pharmacist suggested to use nystal but only for 3 days, we did and it was getting better, after stopping nystal it got worse again, a doctor told us to use panderm and sachets of Hexbio. But now the rash is getting worse and the skin is tearing. Please advise what should we do? My son cannot sleep at night.

Hello, my name is Dr.Dorina Gurabardhi. I understand your concern.
Some advices that I can give to you are :
-Wash your hands before and after every diaper change.
-Check your baby's diaper often, and change it as soon as it becomes wet or soiled.
-Use plain water. )
-Gently pat the area clean and dry, rather than rubbing.
-If you use wipes, choose mild ones.
-Be sure the area is completely clean and dry before putting on a fresh diaper.
-Smooth on cream or ointment to your baby's clean, dry bottom before putting on a clean diaper. Look for zinc oxide or petrolatum on the ingredients list.
Hope my answer was helpful, if you have any other questions I'll be glad to help, thanks!
