How Can A Digit Numbness With Pain Caused By Trauma Be Treated?

Extreme left end of my wrist got stuck between a door for a few seconds. Ever since the sensation in my thumb isn't how it is with other fingers. It seems like partial numbness to me. While there has been no pain in the last two weeks, only now a certain amount of pain occurs erratically. Is it a sign of healing ? Should I restrain movement of my thumb ?
