How Can A Dog Bite Be Treated?

Doc I have received already the four shots on post exposure vaccine againts rabies days 0,3,7,28. My last dose was on mar.6,2016. On march 15,2016 I was bit again by a puppy dog when I was going to handle him, he was 3 months already and on the same day he received his rabies vaccine. The site were he bit me was on my left arm just like a mark maybe it was the tip of his teeth and it was on 2 sites, it ddn t bled and I don t feel any pain on it. And the other site was on my left hand again just like a mark or I can say like a point of a pen at first it ddn t bleed after he bit me then after 5 minutes I was immediately washed with running water and soap and put some 70% alcohol. And then 10 minutes later I observed little blood just like spot on the site on my left hand. The dog that bit me is in my neigborhood he always stay inside the house no contact with the stray dog since he was 1 month old puppy. My question is, Do I need another 2 booster shots days O,3? Or I should wait for 15 days of quarantine the dog for observation. Thank you.

Hello,

Based on your history, having done the post-exposure vaccines of rabies and being a bite from a little house dog I think you shouldn't worry.

You are protected and there is no risk for rabies from a dog that has no contact with stray dogs.

So, I think there is no need for 2 booster shots of rabies. I suggest doing as well a tetanus immunoglobulin (till 72 hours)after this situation if you have not done before tetanus vaccination.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
