How Can A Dog Bite Be Treated?

Hi good day my son had a complete anti-rabies shot year 2015 and then he got bitten again year 2016 he got two booster shots. Yesterday he was bitten again by our house cat. I am just wondering if there is an effect if I ll have him again for another complete vaccine not a booster shot because I lost his vaccine records and I am planning to bring him to another doctor.

Hello and welcome to HCM..
I am really sorry to hear this about your child..
I thank you for posting your query here and I'm definitely going to help you out..

I being a surgeon, we encounter so many such cases day in and day out..
I read your question completely and have understood it well enough.

I will analyze all your points and provide necessary suggestions regarding the same..

1. Dog bite followed by full course of anti rabies vaccine
Followed by dog bite again. And now cat bite.
Yes.. Dog and cat bites are notorious for Rabies, a fatal disease that has no cure...

2. House cat, generally will be immunized. Or, not carrying Rabies virus.
But still, Rabies is such disease that over treatment is always beneficial than under treatment.

3. Simple reason being, it's a real fatal disease..

4. Now please do this..
A. Ensure the child doesn't have any such further bites.

B. Start a new schedule of anti rabies vaccine altogether..
This is most important to prevent Rabies..

C. Keep an eye on that cat which bite the child, atleast for 10 to 12 days.
If nothing happens to cat then there's no problem.
If Cat dies unexpectedly, consult a surgeon immediately..

Hope this helps you, in case you need any further assistance, please let me know..
I am there to help you..
Take care and God bless..
