How Can A Dog Bite Be Treated?

Hi doctor. Yesterday a house dog has bitten me and immediately I was given a tetanus and vaxirab injections. Doctor has given only 3 doses injection chart such as 0 day, 3rd day and 7 th day. Is it enough or should I have four to five doses?? My wound is not so harsh such that I saw the swelling for four to five hours only. Plz guide me in the injection chart and food diet

Hello I am really sorry to hear this about your dog bite...
Welcome to HCM..
I thank you for posting your query here and I'm definitely going to help you out..

I being a surgeon, we encounter so many such cases day in and day out..
I read your question completely and have understood it well enough..

I will analyze all your points and provide necessary explanation and treatment.

1. House dog bite..
Well, most of the pet dogs will be immunized and hence I suggest you not to worry..
Chances of getting infected with Rabies is minimal..

2. You took immediate Anti Rabies and Tetanus..
Very good.. In fact, this step of you reduces the chances to almost nil..

3. Yes, 3 doses on 0,3,7 days is the recent post exposure guidelines..
Your doctor has done a great job.
So chill, do not worry.. It's correct..

4. No need for 5 doses..

5. Wound will heal well on its Own and should not be closed or sutured..

I hope this helps you, in case you need any further assistance, please let me know.
Take care and God bless.
