How Can A Dog Bite Be Treated?

Hi, I am 31years female. I was bitten by dog on 10th Sept 2017. The wound is not very deep. The blood was nil or the size of a dot of pen nib. Within 10 min I visited a nearby hospital. The dr gave me titanus and Rabipur injection. They both were given to me at a point between waist and buttock. I read in scripture given by company that Rabipur should only be taken in upperarm. The dose given to me is as per 0,3,7,14,28. The second dose that is on 3rd day I hv taken on upper arm but my first dose was at wrong place as per company guidelines. I want to know will my first dose be counted or not and will it be effective? I am very tensed. Or should i count my second dose taken on third day correctly at upper arm be considered as first. How should I schedule my dosage now? Should I continue the schedule and take an extra dose. Please guide me. Thankyou for your valuable suggestion.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advise.

Anti rabbies injections can be given intradermal or inramuscular.
these regimen differs in schedule and total duration of treatment.

First injection in your case was given intradermal.
please tell me the second upper arm injection was given in skin only or it is given deep in deltoid muscle?
If it was given in skin only then they are following intradermal schedule and you need not to worry.
If from second injection they changed to intramuscular one then ask them to stick to that protocol only.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards
Dr. Hiren
