How Can A Finger Injury Be Treated?

I injure my right hand fighter (next to the pinky) and now its showing signs of white near the finger tips, I went to the Health office at Foothill College ane they told me to put my hand in hot water for 3-4 times a day for 10-15 minutes each, but still no signs of recovery, is there a way to heal?
