How Can A Hamstring Injury On The Left Leg Be Treated?

I have hamstring injury of my left leg diagnosed by my accupuncturist. It occurred when I bent down in the garden some two months ago thinking it would right itself. My doctor confirmed I have not broken anything. I continued golfing and gardening which I now know I should not have done and the injury is not getting any better. Yesterday I also went over on my left ankle which is very sore. What steps should I take to rid myself of this discomfort?
