How Can A Hematoma Be Treated?

HI, What situation requires a Hematoma to be removed via surgery? I have a hematoma that occurred post Hip Replacement surgery 5-10-17. it s was about the size of 1/2 grapefruit. Very painful at first to touch. that has passed and swelling gone down about 33%, Thank you for some information. Ken

Hi,

Small hematomas will settle by themselves without treatment.

It is nothing but a collection of blood and that will get absorbed over time.

If the lesion persist, you can plan for an ultrasound guided aspiration.
