How Can A Hiatal Hernia Along With Shortness Of Breath Be Treated?
My mom is 85 and has a hiatal hernia. The dr says its rather large. She has shortness of breathe and was just recently told she could be anemic because of it. She is in good health, with the exception of the shortness of breathe. My question is at one point should surgery become an option? The shortness of breathe causes her not be able to walk far and sometimes interferes with her sleeping.
Thanks for using HealthcareMagic
The anemia would cause the shortness of breath because the low blood count would result in an decreased level of oxygen in the blood.
A hiatal hernia can cause a lot of problems with some persons, usually worsening reflux but shortness of breath can occur as well. At this stage, where she is having this particular symptom- surgery can be considered.I hope this helps
