How Can A Keloid On The Left Breast Be Treated?

I have a large keloid on my left breast due to two surgeries years ago to remove two fibroid adenomas. It causes alternate pain, itching and discomfort. Meanwhile, there is lately some tenderness and a gray spot on the nipple. I ve scheduled a physician appointment to see what is going on. There have been yearly mammograms without negative results for years. Until this year when I was advised they are no longer necessary. I am 82. Any comment?

Anesthesiologist 's  Response
Hi, I have gone through your question and understand your concern. I am a practicing anaesthesiologist and pain consultant.
Keloid is nothing but an excessive scar formation, due to excessive fibrous tissue. Many type of treatment modalities are available for keloid, but no single treatment is best.
I would like to suggest, if keloid is not causing much trouble, leave it, as it is not going to harm. If it's painful, or for cosmetic purpose, treatment available are occlusive dressing, steroid injection, radio therapy, laser therapy, surgical excision, Immunosuppressant, Phototherapy.
You need to consult dermatologist and surgeon if want to go ahead for treatment, they will decide the correct option.
