How Can A Laparotomy Surgical Wound Be Treated?

I had a laparotomy a week and a half ago and I m worried that I may not heal properly because I ve had to lift my 6 year old totally disabled son who has cerebral palsy. I had no choice because there wasn t anyone here to help me. Now my stomach feels terrible, but my incision hasn t opened. What possible damage have I done to the healing process?

Hello,

Lifting heavy weights before improper healing may lead to tearing of stitched inside or hematoma formation or muscle strain lead to pain.

Please do not neglect and consult your surgeon immediately, he/she will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Penchila Prasad Kandikattu
