How Can A Painful Ankle Sprain Be Treated?

Oh,... ! I am happy I came across this website. Ugh.. this is kinda a story with a history. On thanksgiving day 1996 when I was 16 yrs old I was a passenger in a bad farm truck vs tree accident. The truck I was in hit the tree at 90-95 mph broke the tree, the driver and I were ejected out of the drivers side, the truck rolled and I landed 6 to 12 inches behind the passenger rear truck tire going in and out of Conscious resulted 2 week coma with a lower broken L3 L4 and L5 which now has 2 rods with 6 screws in my lower back. Also my left heel bone crushed= synthetic heel bone with 5 screws and plate in my left ankle. I now and since then currently have a 20 range of motion and TBI. Last week I was running and sprained that ankle..?.. this past Thursday night I couldn t walk at all!. I went to the emergency room 24 hours(friday) after. The extremely painful pain I feeling this past Thursday and Friday as when I unknowing got off the hospital bed took a step causing me to fall due to the ankle/heel bone freshly repaired 20 years ago. The drag this past Friday showed that I had sprained my fused ankle and that the hardware is showing signs of degeneration. Do you have any suggestions or opinions on what I can and need to do besides run.
