How Can A Painful Bruise On The Lower Left Leg Be Treated?
About a week ago I bruised the front of my lower left leg, just below the kneed and towards the outside of the leg. I m not exactly sure how I did it but I think it was when I was kneeling for an extended period during stretching. It has felt really nervy since then and when I kneel on it in just the right way it produces a nervy type of intense pain. Today I started getting pins and needles type of sensation throughout my lower leg, ankle, and foot. I m sure they are related but I m wondering how serious it is, or if it will just go away with time.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
The sensations are likely due to temporary nerve damage and would improve with time. It is possible that the superficial nerves may have a sustained minor damage when you knelt for the long period but because no nerves were severed, healing would occur.
You can consider the use of a pain killer such as Ibuprofen or Naproxen to see if either of these helps with the pain.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Michelle Gibson James
