How Can A Painful Egg-sized Lump On The Hip Be Treated?

My son was playing under the kitchen table and crawled under a chair and got up too soon and hit his right side on the hip bone area. And it now has a large egg sized lump that is painful what could it be and does it require hospital. My son is 5 years old

I have gone through your query. Most common differential for symptoms your son is having includes localized collection (abscess). Is there any history of fever or redness of overlying skin? if yes then it most probably is an abscess and you need to take him to a general surgeon for further evaluation.
