How Can A Painful Lump In Between The Vaginal Folds Be Treated?
I m 36 yr old and had a baby about 16 months ago, have been having normal cycles since then, stopped breast feeding/pumping last feb. this month my cycle came 1 day early with the first few days being heavier than normal. on about the 3rd day I noticed a small hard painful lump in between the inner and outer folds but closer to the inner. it was very painful and hurt to even sit. I thought that it was from wiping a lot or wiping to rough. Yesterday i noticed that it broke open and there was a bit of like a bloody discharge from it but the majority of it is still there and still painful. could this just be a cyst due to hormones? i have never noticed anything like it before or at any of my other cycles.
Hi there, I have understood your concern and I will suggest you the best possible treatment options.
First of all do not panic.
From your description it looks like some kind of infection leading to abscess formation. Please get it examined by your gynecologist and seek prescription support for a broad spectrum antibiotic like Amoxycillin and Clavulinic acid containing tablets 2 times a day for 5 days and analgesic like Paracetamol as needed.
In future please maintain proper vaginal hygiene. Keep private parts clean and dry. Use of Lactic acid containing vaginal wash during bath time is advisable.
I hope this answer helps you. Thanks. Dr. Purushottam Neurgaonkar
