How Can A Painful Lump In The Groin Area Be Treated?

I have a lump in my gorin that's painfully. The pain cause tenderness all down my left thigh and leg. What could be the cause of it? I have pain in my pelvic area also that's is coming from the lump. The lump is so tender it hurts when I shower when the water hits it. Even when my underwear touch it.
