Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a perforated eardrum but need to have a shower. I know I need to keep water out of the ear, but I m not sure how. I read that people have used cotton wool coated in Vaseline but when you take it out, how would you make sure all the Vaseline is out too?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
Thanks for the query.
I understand your concern
You need consultation of an ENT specialist for determination of severity of of damage.
Most of the times it heals within 3-4 weeks with treatment by antibiotics and anti inflammatory drugs.
With no healing/ with severe degree of perforation ear drum patch or repair surgery is needed.
Till then - continue treatment with doctor's advise /do not wash, put some thing else than advise,do not try to clean it yourself with stick .
Regards
Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale,
