How Can A Persistent Swollen Itchy Red Rash On The Neck Be Treated?

I have a swollen itchy red rash on my neck (one side, about 3 inches around, not a bull s eye), and multiple enlarged lymph nodes in my neck. Low grade fever, feeling of shakiness, moderate headache. Started rash 7 days ago, nodes 4 days. Rash not improving. I Travelled to Vermont about a month ago. Is Lyme disease likely? What else?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello welcome to 'Ask A Doctor' service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advise.

Usually in Lyme disease which spread through tick bite has bulls eye lesion. Lyme disease have presentation same like that of flu. So yes you can get investigated for it by serological test. Other possibility is viral infection. Symptomatic management done for that with analgesic and levocetrizine like antihistaminic drug. I suggest you to consult physician for examination.

Hope I have answered your question.
