How Can A Purple Scar On The Knee Be Treated?

this past summer my daughter injured let knee, we were out cutting dead wood, and she pulled a tree down that was hung up in another tree, when it come down the rotted off end of the trunk stabbed into her knee right at the socket area inner knee and pinned her knee against a buried rock, the tree would be at least 200lbs, the doctor at the hospital did an amazing job of stitching her up, but she has a horrible purple scar from it, what can I do to help her minimize the scar over time?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

As per your case history of scar, my treatment advice is -

1. Don't scratch the lesion as it may worsen the condition.
2. Apply a placentrax gel twice daily on it.
3. Take a vitamin E supplement once daily for 3 months.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
