How Can A Rash On The Shin Be Treated?

I have a warm red patch on the front of my shin from when I fell on my knee a week ago, the knee bruised pretty good and there is an indent on part of it but not real painful and the red, warm shin not very painful but the outside of my left foot hurts when I walk on it and gets stiff if I sit for too long at a time. I have no insurance what can I do besides using ice and heating pad

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

We will try to help you in best way possible. First of all it's sad to know what you had been going through lately. Based on the history you have shared, it can recover spontaneously at its own but if painful or swelling around the rash persists, using OTC analgesics like acetaminophen or Ibuprofen along with antibiotics like amoxicillin might be needed. Topical antibiotics like Fucidin may also be helpful.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
