How Can A Ring Stuck In The Throat Be Removed?

I swalled a homemade lip ring on accident while having sex...i think it may be lodged in my throat! I feel it stuck in there, but im worried that because its not an average lip ring, that it might do some damage. It was a round metal link i took from a necklace. What should i do?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

First get examination by ENT doctor if he can find ring and remove it. Usually, it must have passed in stomach. Get x-ray abdomen to assess location of ring, ring may pass in feces in 72 hours.

You have to get x-ray daily to locate it path. If there is fever, abdominal distension, or vomiting, then rush to emergency as soon as possible.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Varinder Joshi
