Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My grandma has been diagnosed with sarcoma. The tumor has been removed by surgery and it was in the lung. I am wondering what stage is this. I have been told that the doctors caught it early. However everything i read online says once it is in the lings that that is a secondary site. Can u please clearify
The site where sarcoma starts is called the primary site. Sometimes when the sarcomas are not treated well, the cells may start dividing, such growth may cause lumps in the soft tissues & metastasis may start causing secondary sarcomas in other areas like skin, soft tissues, lungs, liver, bones, brains or lymph nodes.
Sarcomas that spread through the bloodstream or lymphatic drainage & tumor starts to grow. Such sites of growths are called secondary sites or manifestations. Let your grandmother have regular follow up treatments but make sure she is not suffering from side effects of chemotherapy. Give her home made food & do regular exercises, help her stay away from stress, anxiety & addictions if any.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Nupur K,
