How Can A Skin Cut On The Ring Finger Be Treated?

I am a old farm nurse. I got a sliver under the bottom of my ring finger. It is deep and difficult to see I clipped some of the skin back and used my surgical tweezers and a clean needle and dug out as much as I could. This was a week ago. It had a hard abcess now and is infected. Can I lance it???? It s not red at all. Thanks!

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

You are developing abscess as per history after a cut in the finger. So it needs to be surgically drained along with the antibiotic course. Daily dressing might need for few days.

If the fever present, then an antipyretic drug like paracetamol can be prescribed. Consult the general surgeon for examination and accordingly get treated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Parth Goswami
