Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I sprained my forearm about 5 days ago. It just started showing a bruise. At first, the pain was mid-forearm. The bruise is at my wrist. Pushing down doesn t hurt, but shaking hands and twisting the arm hurts. At what point should I see a doctor?
The injury you sustained is in all probability to the soft tissues. However, if you feel that pain is excessive, it may be good to take an XRay of the fore arm bones. Please give rest to the arm till complete resolution, which may take 3 to 4 weeks, depending on the degree of the contusion of the muscles and any ligament sprain. Please do not lift anything heavy with the hand. If there is swelling, tenderness, features of infection, or a fracture in XRay, there is no doubt that you must consult a surgeon immediately.
