How Can A Surgical Incision After A Sinus Surgery Be Treated?

I too just had sinus surgery to remove a regrown keratocystic tumor(from my right maxilliary sinus two weeks ago, and today, exactly two weeks after the surgery (first occurring in upper jaw in 2004, and now regrowth discovered by chance 13 years later. On the 15th day after surgery, I experienced this putrid smell (and bad taste when it drips post-nasal). The incision is still not closed up (as I can feel the nasal flush solution leak through it into my mouth). I m doing nasal flush twice daily, and soaking antibacterial mouthwash at incision site. I m also numb on part of my face and upper palette. It s been a tough recovery, and I welcome your advice about the putrid smell.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Your symptoms can be related to an infection of the incision.
I suggest you to take prescribed antibiotics by mouth and continue the nasal flush for local treatment.
You should consult your doctor about the antibiotics.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further
