Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
How do I message my saliva gland in an attempt to make stone pass? This is the second time my gland has suddenly swollen after or during eating. First time I went to ER in panic but was treated with Benadryl for possible allergic reaction but that s not what it was.
"As" per your clinical history is concerned please follow like this -
1)Do a clinical examination by your Doctor[ENT] and to confirm it do CBC with differential and ultrasound to confirm exact cause of salivary gland swelling and if any stone is present then what is the size of it.
2)For pain you can take OTC NSAIDs and apply heat to the affected gland, if stone size is small then eat citrus fruits like lemon which will increase excessive salivation and stone will come out and if stone is big size then discuss with your treating Doctor about surgical procedures. To prevent infection ask your Doctor about a course of oral antibiotics.
Do follow lifestyle modifications like this -
1)Do brush your teeth twice a day and wash your mouth in mouth wash regularly.
2)Drink more than 8 glasses of water every day to produce enough saliva.
Hope that helps
