How Can A Torn Knee Muscle Be Treated?

Hello Doctor, I am 68. I used to be a very high level volleyball player, in senior tournaments all over the country. 3 years ago, I tore the quadricept muscle off of my kneecap. I had it repaired, can now walk normally. Am I too old to consider playing volleyball again possibly re-injuring this knee, or maybe doing it to the other knee? Should I consider myself lucky, and just focus on walking? Thank you. Ron

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Consult an orthopedician and get evaluated. Most probably you have to undergo an arthroscopic repair of your kneecap.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
