How Can A Worn Cartilage In The Knee Be Treated?

I have had an MRI for my left knee and I have been told that I have worn cartilage but everything looks strong. I am 51 and have been an athlete my whole life. I presently play basketball, 3 v. 3, and I am wondering what I should wear for a knee brace. An ortho sent me home with a knee brace (that insurance will agree to pay for) but it doesn t seem completely necessary. It has side braces. I am not experiencing any pain, my knee just swells and thus limits full range of motion.

Hi,

I would explain that temporary immobilization of the knee is necessary for some weeks, in order to help it heal fast and reduce the local inflammation.

For this reason, I think that the knee brace will help improve your situation.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
