Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello, 3 months ago I had a mole shaved off and the wound was cauterised. I applied Vaseline daily for the 10 days as suggested. It scanned over and then fell off. A new layer of skin has now formed, however I have a black mark the size of the wound under the skin. I m not sure if it s dried blood, or front he cauterising. Will this go away?
The black discoloration you are noticing is likely post inflammatory hyperpigmentation. It is a benign condition and nothing to be worried about. The hyperpigmentation will fade in a few months. If you notice that the black discoloration is expanding, changing shape, color or starts bleeding follow up with your dermatologist.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
