My grandson stepped on a mediator thorn today. It penetrated from the bottom of the foot between the great toe & the second toe. It is a very deep wound & he says the pain goes all the way up to his hip. He has no health insurance d insists he cannot seek urgent care. What are his options? I suggested Epsom salt soaks after hydrogen peroxide cleansing of the surface. There is unmoderated swelling, no drainage nor discoloration of the foot at this time. He finally went to sleep after a couple of shots of liquor & 2 Advil for the pain. I m concerned he may need antibiotics because of the deep puncture.
