How Can A Wound On The Leg Be Treated?

I cut my leg (inner lower calf) with a razor blade from a shaver. I soaked it in rubbing alcohol first. The cut was pretty deep & opened up to about 1/2 inch wide. Very staight clean cut. It didn t bleed long & I can t afford medical. How should I take care of the wound. It s been 3 days so it s too late for stitches. Please help. I m very scared. Yes I did it on purpose but didn t mean to cut that deep. I know I need help so let s just concentrate on proper wound care. Thank you.

Hello. First the wound should be cleaned regularly with mild soap. then you can apply mupirocin ointment after cleansing the area, 2-3x a day. if it's too deep, you need to take oral antibiotics to prevent further infection, amoxicillin 500mg 1 tab 4x a day, and mefenamic acid 500mg 1 tab every 8 hours as needed for the pain. and if you havent had tetanus shots before, i'd suggest you get one. Hope this helps.
